There are bands you enjoy seeing live, and then there are bands you make a point of never missing. MIDNIGHT firmly belongs in the second category.
Whenever Athenar announces a Vancouver date, it’s an automatic addition to the calendar. No debate. No hesitation. Just a simple realization that whatever plans existed beforehand can wait.
Returning to the Rickshaw Theatre, MIDNIGHT once again delivered exactly what fans have come to expect: pure, unfiltered, high-octane chaos.
From the moment the band hit the stage, the room transformed into a sweaty, adrenaline-fueled celebration of everything that makes heavy music fun. The riffs came fast, the crowd responded with equal intensity, and the energy level never dropped for a second.
One of the night’s standout moments came when Athenar called for the crowd to move closer and climb the barricades. In an instant, the photo pit (where i had been only a couple songs before) disappeared beneath a wave of excited fans eager to get closer to the action. What had been a buffer between band and audience became part of the show itself, creating one of those classic Rickshaw Theatre moments that people will be talking about long after the amps have cooled down.
That’s the magic of MIDNIGHT. Their shows aren’t about standing still and politely observing. They’re about participation. They’re about feeling the energy in the room, feeding off it, and becoming part of the madness.
Every time MIDNIGHT comes through town, they remind everyone why they remain one of the most entertaining live acts on the road today. The songs hit hard, the performance never lets up, and somehow each appearance feels just as exciting as the last.
If you’ve never experienced MIDNIGHT live, fix that.
They’re returning this fall alongside GWAR and Mac Sabbath, and if this latest performance proved anything, it’s that this is not a tour to miss. Do yourself a favour: grab a ticket, get yourself to the venue, and prepare for one hell of a night.
Some bands put on concerts.
MIDNIGHT throws parties.
And every single one is worth attending.
