Last night The Klash of the Titans tour lived up to its epic name at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver BC, delivering a night of pure, adrenaline-fueled thrash metal. The lineup was a metalhead’s dream, with Possessed, Kreator, and Testament each bringing their own ferocity to the stage.
Opening the night was the legendary POSSESSED, a band that laid the groundwork for death metal itself. They wasted no time setting the tone for the evening, hammering through their set with relentless precision. The crowd was hooked from the start, and by the time their last song wrapped, chants of “One more song!” echoed through the venue—a testament to the hunger for more.
Next up was KREATOR, and from the very first note of “Hate Über Alles,” the energy in the room exploded. Kreator doesn’t just play live, they dominate. If you’ve ever questioned whether their albums do them justice, their performance on this night would have convinced you otherwise. The walls of death—yes, there were three—were pure chaos, pushing the crowd’s energy to the brink. Kreator’s stage presence was larger-than-life, with massive demonic figures and eerie, suspended hordes decorating the stage. It was impossible to look away from the spectacle, and the sheer power of their sound matched the intensity of the visuals. After this, I found myself loving Kreator even more than before.
Closing the night was none other than TESTAMENT, with Chuck Billy leading the charge. For any thrash fan, seeing Chuck Billy live is an absolute bucket list moment, and the man did not disappoint. From the very first song, he was a force to be reckoned with, bouncing around the stage, air-drumming and air-guitaring between his guttural vocals. It was a performance of both power and personality. But it wasn’t just Billy who shone—Chris Dovas delivered a drum solo so intense, it felt like my own shins were developing shin splints just from listening. I swear his kit was going to explode. The set closer, “Into the Pitt,” capped off the night with an explosive finish, leaving the crowd in awe.
The Klash of the Titans tour is more than an appropriate name—it’s a declaration. Each band proved they are titans in their own right, and the night was a showcase of the relentless energy and raw talent that defines thrash metal. If you missed it, you missed out on a legendary night.
Find them on one of their other dates. You won’t be sorry!
